Why take travel notes from someone who has been to a place once when you could hear recommendations from the women who are regulars at the hidden gems?

I’m Kelsey, and I founded The Local out of not only the love for traveling but out of the love for planning a trip.

If you’ve ever gone down a rabbit hole about a place you’ve never been to on Pinterest or Reddit, you’re in good company. After experiencing the letdown of travel advice from people who don’t actually know a place I set out to find a better way to connect people with a place. Thus, The Local became a reality! 

I love supporting local and I truly believe no one gives travel advice like a local. Growing up, I watched my mother ask the bookshop owner, the barista, and the hotel receptionist where we should go for dinner. Without fail, their advice was always better than the guidebooks (hello 2005). 

The heart of The Local is all about connecting women to each other through travel. Nothing beats a girls weekend getaway or a mother/daughter trip. The Local brings curated advice that you won’t find anywhere else. If you don’t have the funds, time, or energy to travel I invite you to daydream each week with us. I promise to bring the best advice with a little whimsy, wit, and fun each Thursday at happy hour.

 I live in the delusion that the weekend begins on Thursday night so open a bottle and let’s plan a trip!
